GTAC Secretary Priyanuz Dutta informed that this first time that such sale will take place in GTAC. The prices achieved at GTAC between Sales 13 to 26 this year have been attractive with an average price of Rs 225/- as against an average of Rs 148/- for the same period in the previous year.
Dutta added, “In fact in Sale no. 26 last week we achieved an average price of Rs 265- as against an average of Rs 157- for the same sale last year. In this sale also we expect to create new records and achieve new heights with the help of the commitment of each and every stakeholder of GTAC. The quantity on offer at GTAC sale no. 27 is 4.55 Million Kgs and we expect approximately 180 buyers bidding for the same. It has always been an endeavour of GTAC to provide the best tea selling and buying platform and we diligently work towards that single goal.”
Dinesh Bihani, Secretary, GTAC said that the Guwahati Tea Auction Centre sold 204 million kgs tea in 2019-20.
He said, “At present 225 Registered Buyer at GTAC. This will be a unique Auction across India were all stakeholders in Guwahati will take part from their home in full lockdown imposed by Assam government. We buyer are always in favour to work for the benefit of Assam tea industry. The GTAC prices are more remunerative than other Auction Centre. GTAC has become a hub for all Indian Tea retailers. Recently new exporters are buying through this auction Centre”.
